COVID-19 Testing Information
Information is current through March 19, 2020 And May Be Updated
Information about COVID-19 prevention, symptoms, and care can be found on the website of the CDC. Up-to-date information about Illinois’s COVID-19 cases and public policy response are available on the Illinois Department of Public Health’s website.
At Kids In Motion, the health and safety of our patients and their families is our highest priority.
In an effort to learn more about disease tracking and prevention locally, we’ve called Hinsdale Hospital, the University of Chicago, and LaGrange Hospital for information about COVID-19 testing availability.
At this time, it seems like there is limited testing capacity in the state.
In order to qualify for a test, you must:
Be showing symptoms yourself.
Have been in direct contact with a known COVID-19 patient - OR - have recently traveled to a country or location with a high volume of cases.
Even then, accessing a test may prove difficult for Illinois residents. Elective testing is not readily available on a consistent basis at this time.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, or persistent pain or pressure in your chest. There are other symptoms like headache and gastrointestinal distress which have been associated with COVID-19. Symptoms typically show up within 2-14 days of exposure.
It is possible to carry and spread the virus without showing symptoms.
The CDC has a COVID-19 helpline at (800) 889-3931, which is staffed by people for at least part of the day. If the line is overloaded you may be presented with an automated menu.
If you or someone you know is showing symptoms or has been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, please contact Kids In Motion about cancelling or rescheduling your treatment.
